Rats and mice are not only a nuisance but can also cause property damage and transmit diseases. You’ll know they’ve arrived if you see rodent droppings near a food source or shredded fabric or paper.

Common Sources of Food and Water

1. Food in unsealed containers such as bags of chips, rice, cereal, crackers, flour, and other non-perishables.
2. Pet food and water left out overnight or in a bag rather than in a secure container.
3. Fruits or vegetables in open bowls left outside of refrigerator.
4. Leaky pipes or faucets throughout the house.
5. Open garbage and compost containers.. 

Signs of Rodent Activity

Here are the top six signs of a rodent infestation:

1. Droppings: mice or rat droppings are one of the most common signs of a rodent infestation.
2. Gnaw marks: rodents can chew through several building materials, including wires and plastic.
3. Nests: rodents nest in secluded areas where there is less chance of disturbance.
4. Rub marks: rodents tend to leave dark grease or dirt marks on areas frequently travelled.
5. Strange noises: scratching noises in the walls often occur at night when rodents are active.
6. Sightings: rodents breed rapidly. If you spot one, it’s very likely there are others.
